Travel Tripods – 3 sizes to fit your needs

Having a tripod and or a device that will allow you to take photos of yourself without having to use the dreaded “arm shot” is key.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

THE CLEARSHOT
POCKET SIZE FOR CAMERA PHONE

A lot of us are taking more and more photos with our smartphones, but who has the foresight or room to always carry a tripod?

There is a new product about to break into the market which is the size of a credit card and lets you take hands free shots with your android or iphone.  It also doubles as a stand for watching videos or using facetime/skype.

Currently you can pick one of these up through their kickstarter campaign http://kck.st/N7U7XR (better hurry there is only 10 days left to get one pre-ordered) or via their site www.ClearShot2012.com

THE XSHOT / POCKET XSHOT
POCKET SIZE ARM EXTENDER
We did a Travel Tips Video on the original X SHOT a while back.  Click here to see that video.  Since then they have released the new XShot 2.o.  The Pocket X Shot , available through Amazon, is their best product, it is significantly smaller when collapsed and doesn’t sacrifice much length when compared to the standard X Shot 2.0.

I use this product all the time, especially when filming our Sample the Culture videos.  Watch some again and see if you can find where we use it.

X Shot products are available through http://xshot.com/ and of course Amazon.

JOBY GORILLAPOD
THE VERSITILE MINI TRIPOD

The GorillaPod is just barely small enough to fit in a pocket.  It is flexible and grippy so it can be attached most places for a nice hands free still shot.  Personally when I am filming I have had this as well as the Xhot with me.  That way I have both angles covered.

Again this is a little bigger than the other items listed here and you need to remember to bring it, however it is a great tool for premediated photo and video taking.

For more info visit the Joby GorillaPod Site or hit up Amazon.
